Compounded medications can treat pain, inflammation, muscle spasms, bacterial/fungal infections, and neuralgia. There are many commercially available medications to help manage pain, inflammation, and muscle spasms. Many of these medications, however, can cause undesirable side effects. Often when these medications are used topically, they can provide better therapeutic benefit without the undesirable side effects.
Treatment options may include:
- Topical NSAIDs such as ibuprofen
- Topical anesthetics such as LET (lidocaine, epinephrine, tetracaine) gel
